The frozen dumplings may be made more interesting by using this recipe for lace skirt dumplings, which is not only incredibly simple but also visually attractive. Despite its name, the “lace skirt” is quite sharp.
Ingredients
- A third of a cup of water
- 2 teaspoons of flour that is all-purpose
- 1/8 of a teaspoon of salt
- a total of four teaspoons of vegetable oil
- 1/4 of a teaspoon of sesame oil
- Potstickers or dumplings, seven of them frozen
Directions
Step 1
For the slurry, combine the water, flour, and salt in a small dish and mix them together completely. Set the bowl aside. It is possible to use any tasty animal or vegetable broth for the water; this is not required.
Step 2
Place a high-quality non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil and sesame oil to the pan along with the other oils.
Step 3
Spread the dumplings out in a circular pattern on the pan with the flat side down. When dumplings begin to sizzle, cover them securely and allow them to brown for around three minutes.
Step 4
Release the lid of the pan, stir the slurry, and pour it around the dumplings. Bring the temperature down to medium and continue cooking until all of the liquid in the slurry has evaporated and the “lace skirt” has begun to become brown. Continue to cook the skirt until it reaches a crisp texture and travels over the bottom of the pan when the pan is shook vigorously.
It should rise up from the edges and release, but if it is stuck around the edge, you may loosen it by delicately using the edge of a spatula. You can remove the skirt from a decent non-stick pan if you cook it for a sufficient amount of time.
Step 5
The dumplings should be removed from the heat and placed on a platter. To avoid getting any oil that may be leaking on your hand or arm, you should turn over and observe caution. Ideally, you should do this over a towel so that the drips are caught. As soon as possible, serve with the dipping sauce of your choice, whether it be wonton or dumpling.
