Grandma's Swedish Spritz Recipe

This classic Christmas cookie is given a new twist with almonds. You are going to require a cookie press. Everyone should have one!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of butter
  • Single cup of white sugar
  • two egg yolks.
  • 1 egg white (or
  • 2 teaspoons of extract made from almonds
  • All-purpose flour 4 and a half cups

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). A baking sheet should be lightly greased.

Step 2

The butter should be beaten with an electric mixer in a large basin until it becomes frothy and light. Sugar should be added gradually as the mixture is being beaten until the color of the mixture becomes significantly lighter. One at a time, add the egg yolks, and be sure to wait for the first one to completely incorporate into the butter mixture before adding the another.

After beating the egg white, add the almond essence to the mixture. While the mixture is being beaten, gradually add the flour in little amounts at a time. Continue beating until the flour is completely integrated.

Step 3

Using a cookie press, press the dough onto the baking sheet that has been prepared.

Step 4

After eight to ten minutes in an oven that has been preheated, the edges should be golden brown. The cookies should be allowed to cool for one minute on the baking sheet before being transferred to a wire rack to proceed with the cooling process.
