Dunkin’ Donuts consumers, like myself, are outraged when it was revealed that the coffee giant changed the lids on their iced drinks. Ben Affleck is presumably also among those who are upset about this development. A month ago, members of the Reddit thread for Dunkin’ Donuts criticized the restaurant for the “awful” new cup design that they had introduced. To put it simply, we are all sobbing into our iced coffees together.
It seems that the lids have been replaced in some spots as recently as a few weeks ago, and the distribution appears to have been a sluggish process. During the month of July, a number of customers went to the internet to express their dissatisfaction with the lid modification, which they had anticipated would be “temporary.”
“These new lids are quite disappointing. The anonymous poster claimed that they are prone to falling off, breaking, and leaking. According to the responses of a number of individuals, the shop location would only use these lids “for beverages that add cold foam” or as they “[run] out of regular lids.”
Nevertheless, other individuals said that they were informed that the new design was “permanent.” It would seem that this is accurate. Complaints have persisted despite the fact that the ancient lids have become more difficult to locate.
“I had a cough brew on my side cups and the entire lid fell off and spilled all over the flooring,” a Redditer remarked in response. “I’m literally still traumatized with it and trying to get rid of up the smell.”
According to the feedback received from consumers, the design seems to consist of “just an open hole” and “no tab to pull.” A number of individuals have also voiced their dissatisfaction with the fact that the lids fly off completely “at the slightest movement” and “don’t stay on.” Despite the fact that one individual said that they dislike using straws and, as a result, take pleasure in the new tops, another individual remarked that they “missed” the purpose.
“I aren’t interested in to use straws either, I simply want a damn lid who functions,” they responded with another statement. “Do you not have any issues because of these lids? Despite the fact that I have obtained them twice, neither time have they performed as they are meant to.
It was also reported by a customer that they are difficult to put on and are so weak that they have the potential to cause the cup to “explode” while being placed on.
“The cup bends in while we’re trying to set it on the lip because not snapping on it just puts more stress there and suddenly the caffeine is all over the drinks making counter,” according to their explanation. “Because of the size of the cups, this occurs more often with smaller cups; but, ever since we implemented these new lids, it has occurred with cups of all sizes more frequently… It’s also strange how jagged the hot lids are. Due to the terrible quality of them, I ended up cutting my lip on one of them.
