Starbucks has unveiled their Holiday Cup designs for 2024

Retailers hardly wait for the scary season to end before they begin decorating their establishments with Christmas decorations. You’ll find glittery snowflakes here, wrapping paper there, and confectionery wrapped in red and green foil everywhere in between. To answer the question of when the season officially starts, some people believe that it is the day when Starbucks begins selling Christmas cups.

According to the announcement made by Starbucks, the company’s holiday cups are on their way, so get ready to collect your pumpkins and begin hanging the garland!

What do the Starbucks holiday cups look like?

Ever since 1997, Starbucks has featured a new design (or group of designs) on their holiday cups. This tradition has continued to the present day. In 2024, there will be four new designs for paper cups, in addition to one design for a plastic cup that is designed for cold beverages. The theme for this year’s cups is “Merrier Together,” and although previous designs included a striking shade of red, this year’s cups are more influenced by various colors of green.

A sneak glance at each new cup is as follows:

  • Joyful Connection: The whole surface of this cup is covered with circles, which are formed when concentric half-circles that are full of color collide with other concentric half-circles that are full of various colors. The design is intended to conjure up images of the mechanical arm that takes the roasted coffee beans and cools them in a massive circular drum.
  • Lyrical Landscape: According to Starbucks, the forms bring to mind “the green rolling hills where coffee is grown.” However, the wavy, rounded patterns of alternating hues may nearly resemble the scales on a mermaid’s tail.
  • Siren Chorus: It is almost as if you were looking at a magic eye painting when you witness a sequence of vertical stripes that have been pinched and warped to form objects that resemble ornaments. Starbucks has said that it has taken inspiration for this particular design from “the patterns made from raking coffee beans in the sun.”
  • Warm Wishes: Almost like a Venn diagram, the concept of gathering together with cups of coffee is represented by a succession of shapes that resemble bubbles and include circles that are related to one another.
  • Holiday Cold Cup: This cup does not include anything particularly groundbreaking; rather, it is adorned with a succession of “festive charms,” which are forms that resemble ice crystals. Nevertheless, for those who like iced shaken espresso, there is something that is a little bit out of the norm.

It makes perfect sense that Starbucks would want to draw parallels between these designs and the process of brewing coffee. Brian Niccol, the new CEO of Starbucks, declared in an open letter that was released in September that he wants to restore the company back to its origins as a coffee house by simplifying the ordering experience, reducing the number of items on the menu, and highlighting the quality of the coffee.

“We are refocusing on what has always set Starbucks apart from other coffee shops: a welcoming coffeehouse where people gather, where we serve the best coffee, handcrafted by our skilled baristas,” Niccol wrote.

When will the Christmas cups from Starbucks be sent out?

This coming Thursday, November 7, the new holiday cups from Starbucks will be available at stores all throughout the country.

Starbucks has disclosed their holiday menu for the year 2024, despite the fact that it has not been formally announced thus yet. These festive new cups will soon be available for you to fill with a variety of beverages, including a Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte, a Peppermint Mocha, and more.
