The list of most significant food recalls that have occurred at Costco this month continues to expand. Just a few days after the shop recalled a popular seafood item owing to worries about Listeria, the company is now withdrawing another item from shelves due to the possibility that it may have been contaminated by the same type of bacteria.
Customers who purchased Krusteaz Belgian Waffles from Costco’s warehouses between October 13 and October 21 received a letter from the retailer this week detailing their purchase. As a result of the major recall of frozen waffles and pancakes that was issued earlier this week by the supplier TreeHouse Foods, these waffles are being removed from stores, as stated in the advisory.
A wide range of private-label and name brands are affected by the recall, which was issued due to concerns over the possibility of Listeria contamination. These brands include Krusteaz, Kodiak Cakes, Trader Joe’s, Walmart’s Great Value, Whole Foods’ 365 Organic, it’s Aldi’s Breakfast Best, and Target’s Good & Gather.
The Krusteaz Belgian Waffles, which have the item number 547374, are now available at Costco in packs of 24. Any individual who still possessed the recalled waffles at their residence was strongly encouraged to desist from ingesting them and instead bring them back to their neighborhood Costco in order to receive a complete refund.
Anyone who has any more inquiries or concerns may get in touch with TreeHouse Foods at the following number: (800) 596-2903. In addition, anybody who is concerned that they may have purchased a different brand of waffle that is affected by the recall should check out the whole list of items that are being recalled as well as other identifying information that is included on the recall notice issued by the United States Food and Drug Administration.
The recall of Krusteaz comes at a time when the shop is currently dealing with questions surrounding the safety of its Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon, which is quite popular. All of the packages that were sold at several Costco warehouses in the Southeast are presently being recalled because there is a possibility that they contain Listeria. The only boxes that are affected by the recall are those with the lot number 8512801270.
The presence of listeria is also responsible for the recall of four more food items from Costco that occurred within the course of one week earlier in the month of October. The products that have been recalled are as follows: El Monterey Mexican Grill Chicken & Cheese Taquitos, Red’s Southwestern Grilled Chicken Mini Burritos, Rana Chicken Truffle Carbonara, and Rana Tagliatelle Grilled White Chicken & Portobello Mushroom Sauce.
The symptoms of a Listeria infection can appear anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after consuming infected food, as stated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Some of the symptoms may include fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and other symptoms similar to those of the flu.
People who are pregnant, babies, elderly adults, and those with compromised immune systems are most vulnerable to the severe effects of listeria infection; nevertheless, other individuals can also become infected with the pathogen.
