The Crunchwrap Supreme is a classic Taco Bell menu item that consists of seasoned beef, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and a tostada shell that is encased inside of a hexagonal flour tortilla. The items that you would least expect to see in the Crunchwrap Supreme are probably hot chicken, Thai noodles, and curry.
These are, however, some of the most popular tastes that are featured in three exciting new variations of the original Crunchwrap that are making their debut sometime this week.
A new initiative called “TBX” was launched by Taco Bell earlier this year. This program gives the firm the opportunity to engage with up-and-coming chefs who are skilled and to leverage their skills to add more tastes to its menu. Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, proprietor of the Best Quality Daughter restaurant in San Antonio; Reuben Asaram, proprietor of Reuby in Philadelphia; and Lawrence “LT” Smith, proprietor of Chitle in Phoenix are among the first group of chefs to be selected for the TBX program.
A prior announcement made by Taco Bell stated that the chefs will be given the opportunity to develop their very own unique variations of the Crunchwrap Supreme, which has 540 calories. As of the sixteenth of October, it was finally revealed how the three players had redesigned the traditional dish on the menu.
At a TBX food truck that will be making stops at two different sites in New York City today and tomorrow, these new Crunchwrap varieties will be made available entirely free of charge.
On October 16, the truck will be located in Williamsburg (160 N 6th St, Brooklyn, New York 11249), and on October 17, it will continue to be present at Washington Square Park (14 Washington Square N, New York, New York 10011) from 12 to 7 p.m., provided that supplies are still available.
Immediately after the start of this trial program, Taco Bell “will further test the TBX designed Crunchwrap Supremes to inform of possible future availability in 2025,” as stated in a news release. Therefore, despite the fact that the initial availability will be highly restricted, it is possible that more people may have the opportunity to try out the new Crunchwrap innovations in the following year.
The Crispy Thai Noodle Crunchwrap Supreme is Chef Hwa Dobbertin’s interpretation of the dish, which draws inspiration from her Asian heritage. A crispy wheat noodle nest, reduced-fat sour cream, fresh onion annually, cilantro, and avocado basil ranch are some of the ingredients that are included in this dish. Chicken that has been marinated and grilled is tossed in an aioli called khao soi, which is inspired by the Thai noodle soup known as khao soi.
In the meanwhile, Chef Asaram has developed an Indian Buffet Crunchwrap Supreme that is stuffed with slow-roasted chicken that has been coated in a creamy tomato curry, rice that has been seasoned with Mexican spices, cucumber mint sauce, a maize tostada that is somewhat crispy, fresh lettuce, and pico de gallo. Those individuals who are interested in making the dish vegetarian have the option of substituting crispy potato bits for the chicken.
Lastly, Chef Smith’s contribution is a Southwest Hot CHX Crunchwrap Supreme. This dish is comprised of chicken nuggets that have been tossed in salsa macha, which is a spicy condiment that is typically made with dried peppers, garlic, and oil. Additionally, it includes Oaxaca-style mozzarella, cheddar cheese, purple cabbage slaw, cilantro, apricot hot sauce, and reduced-fat sour cream.
This is what Liz Matthews, the global chief food development officer for Taco Bell, said in a statement: “We’ve been trying to push the boundaries of what culinary creativity can mean for a long time, and our collaboration with these resulting in chefs allows us to honor different culinary traditions while developing bold, new bites that are uniquely Taco Bell.”
“Our mantra for TBX has been ‘Our team of thing + their thing = a whole new kind of thing’ and we’ll be so excited to share these redesigned Crunchwrap Supremes with fans.”
While consumers in areas of the country that are not located in New York City will have to wait in order to try the new Crunchwraps, customers all throughout the country are already able to take advantage of an amazing new offer.
Those who are a part of Taco Bell’s loyalty program will have the opportunity to personalize their Crunchwraps by adding add-ons that are worth $3 for free for a limited time. It is only possible to participate in this campaign by using the Taco Bell app.
