Costco Recalls a Popular Frozen Meal—Learn More

Exactly one month after issuing recalls for two common culinary items—frozen waffles and skirt steak—Costco is removing another product from its freezer aisle owing to the possibility that it may have been contaminated by a bacterium that causes foodborne disease.

Customers were informed by the merchant on October 10 that Red’s Southwestern Grilled Chicken Mini Burritos were being voluntarily recalled due to the possibility of Listeria contamination. Red’s has issued a statement to Eat This, Not That! stating that all of its goods have been tested and found to be free of Listeria, and that there have been no illnesses recorded in connection with the product. Despite this, the corporation decided to issue the recall because they wanted to be safe.

At Red’s, we place the highest focus on ensuring the well-being and security of our regular customers. A recall of some poultry items was issued by BrucePac, one of our chicken suppliers, on October 9, 2024. The recall was issued owing to the possibility of Listeria contamination. It was said in the announcement that “we have voluntarily recalled a limited number of our products out of an abundance of caution.”

Consumers who have purchased possibly impacted items have been contacted and asked to return the product in order to obtain a complete refund. This is despite the fact that we have a certificate of analysis for all of them of product that has been received having a negative Listeria test result. The fact that there have been no documented complaints of adverse reactions resulting from the intake of any BrucePac products is something that we are grateful for.

People who are pregnant, babies, elderly persons, and those with compromised immune systems are the most likely to be affected by Listeria, as stated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). There is a possibility that other people might become infected with Listeria; however, severe infections are uncommon in these individuals.

After consuming food that has been contaminated with Listeria bacteria, symptoms may appear anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks later, depending on the kind of Listeria infection that has been contracted. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), these symptoms may include fever, symptoms similar to the flu, diarrhea, and vomiting.

Costco warehouses in the Midwest area are the only locations where you can get Red’s Southwestern Grilled Chicken Mini Burritos. These burritos, which are loaded with grilled chicken, white cheddar cheese, and black beans, brown rice, sweet corn, and smoky chipotle sauce, have just recently been made accessible to customers at the store. The recall is only applicable to products that have the following best by dates associated with them: March 27th, April 1st, April 2nd, and April 7th, 26.

Consumers who still possess the recalled burritos were strongly encouraged by Costco to refrain from eating them and to return them in order to receive a refund. Red’s customers who have any more inquiries should call the company at (888) 522-9408 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Central Time.

This notification stated, “We apologize for any disruption that this recall may have caused,” and it was included in the notice.

A wider recall of roughly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat beef products from the protein supplier BrucePac is being carried out, and this is a component of that recall. The recall affects a total of dozens of goods, some of which are sold at H-E-B, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart, among other retailers.

In addition to the recall of meat, there is a significant recall of eggs that is now taking place, and all customers should be aware of this incident. All eggs labeled with the “Milo’s Poultry Farms” or “Tony’s Fresh Market” names are included in the recall because there is a possibility that they were infected with salmonella.
