If you were to ask customers to select the restaurant chain that they consider to be the worst in the United States, you would most likely receive a broad variety of responses because tastes can differ greatly from one customer to the next. Nevertheless, according to data that was just recently made public, there is one restaurant chain that consistently obtains worse reviews from customers than any of the others.
CouponBirds, a website that provides coupons and discounts, has recently released a new survey that identifies the chain restaurants in the United States that are considered to be the best and the worst. For the purpose of this study, only chains with four or more locations were taken into consideration, and Google reviews were studied for almost 160,000 individual restaurants.
Following that, CouponBirds utilized a weighted average to provide a score out of five to each chain. This was done to ensure that the grading process “was not biased towards firms with a high volume of reviews,” as stated in the methodology behind the study.
According to the findings of the survey, Taco John’s, which is a key competitor of Taco Bell’s, is now the “worst” chain restaurant there is in the United States. A grade of 2.61 out of five was given to this fast-food slinger that was influenced by Mexican cuisine. This rating was the lowest of any that was analyzed in the investigation.
Currently, Taco John’s runs more than 350 locations in the Midwest and Northwest. It is well known for its unique Potato Olés, which are crunchy potato nuggets seasoned with spices. Each small order of Potato Olés contains 460 calories.
Following closely behind Taco John’s as the second-ranked worst chain restaurant in the United States, McDonald’s received an average rating of just 2.75 out of a possible 100 points. According to the CouponBirds survey, Bobby’s Burgers (2.84), Wahlburgers outlets within Hy-Vee supermarkets (2.85), and Popeyes (2.90) were all included in the list of the top 10 worst chain restaurants.
Chick-fil-A achieved the highest average rating (3.95) of any food service company with more than 1,000 locations, making it the industry leader when it comes to the top chain restaurants in the United States. When considering the fact that Chick-fil-A routinely places high in or near the top of previous studies on the finest fast-food businesses, this should not come as a surprise anymore.
On the other hand, Jersey Mike’s Subs finished in third place with a score of 3.76, while Five Guys came in a close second with a grade of 3.85.
In addition, the research identified the most successful restaurant chains in the United States that fall into the medium (100 to 1,000 locations) and small (four to 100 locations) categories. With a score of 4.21, In-N-Out Burger emerged victorious in the area of medium-sized chain restaurants.
Second place went to Dave’s Hot Chicken with a score of 4.11, and Chicken Salad Chick with a score of 4.09. Acai Republic (4.44), Nautical Cups (4.39), and Hawaiian Bros Island Grill (4.38), on the other hand, were the top three restaurants in the category of small restaurant chains.
