When it comes to fast food establishments, it appears that humans are unable to overcome the influence of artificial intelligence. Another business has made the decision to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) just a few weeks after consumers were overjoyed to learn that McDonald’s will be closing all of its drive-thrus that were equipped with the technology.
A recent announcement made by Taco Bell revealed that the company would extend its Voice AI drive-thru technology to hundreds of Taco Bell outlets across the United States by the end of the year 2024. There are presently over one hundred Taco Bell locations throughout thirteen states that provide the artificial intelligence drive-throughs.
The restaurant claims that the expansion is being done with the intention of “enhancing the experience of both the team members and the customers.” In addition, they mentioned a number of additional advantages, such as lowering wait times, enhancing order accuracy, and relieving the workload of team members.
Dane Mathews, Chief Digital & Technology Officer of Taco Bell, made the following statement: “Innovation is ingrained in our DNA at Taco Bell, and we view Voice AI as a means to improve the experiences of both our team members and our customers.”
“By utilizing AI, we are able to reduce the amount of work that our team members have to do, which enables them to concentrate on providing front-of-house hospitality.” In addition to this, it helps us to discover fresh and significant approaches to interact with ourselves and our clients.
Yummy! Another confirmation came from Brands, the company that owns both Taco Bell and KFC. They stated that Voice AI is now being tested at five KFC drive-thrus in Australia, and that it has been “positively received.”
As a result of the fact that KFC and Taco Bell have both had more positive experiences with Voice AI, it is not apparent where McDonald’s may have gone wrong with their approach to the technology. On the other hand, several of the customers claimed that it was simply too chaotic.
The function is meant to function by utilizing Artificial Intelligence to take orders from consumers; however, when customers attempted to place an order at McDonald’s, they encountered a number of annoying problems, like the AI upgrading burgers to value meals, menu items being multiplied, and other similar phenomena.
